WHO WE ARE
Tomato’s House Of Rock is a rock music school for seriously creative young musicians. Our founder and creative guru is Chris Harfenist (aka Tomato), the leader of the alternative rock band The Sound Of Urchin. Chris already has 15 years experience teaching, mentoring and directing young musicians as both a private teacher and as a creative director of many rock programs and performances in NYC.

WHERE WE ROCK
We are situated in a 2,000 sq ft studio conveniently located in mid-town Manhattan near both subways and bus routes. We are housed in the world famous “Music Building”, former musical home of Madonna, The New York Dolls, and Aerosmith to name a few.  We are actually in the space most recently used by the band The Strokes. We have two main soundproofed rooms, three adjoining practice rooms and communal rooms where the kids can relax between songs.

THE MISSION OF THOR
To nurture and develop the creative talent of each of our students by providing a vibrant atmosphere, and structured learning program, which is constantly challenging and exceptionally rewarding. Our mission is to direct each individual student towards finding their own creative “voice” and style, and to help them hone their creative skills.  With our focus on songwriting, recording, and performance in well known NY venues, under our support our students are able to start on their own personal journey towards becoming professional musicians.  The programs are all spearheaded by Tomato, who is able to call upon his vast experience in major label recording, performing, publishing, touring, and general knowledge of the world as a professional rock musician.

HOW WE ROCK
THOR kids are highly motivated musicians with a wide knowledge of rock music past and present, and they join us with an already established ability to play the instrument of choice. These kids have a desire to learn, grow and perform with our programs and we are here to help nurture their talent.
