All of our 2-wk Summer Day Programs focus on songwriting, song-crafting, arrangement, production, culminating in recording. All with the main focus on bringing out the true individual creativity of the participating students. Though the age group of the “Ready Set Rock” Beginner Rock Camp is not quite ready for the studio, we not only teach fundamentals of drums, guitar, keyboards, and vocals, but teach the students how to make music as a band – as well as making a multi-track recording, silk-screening their own rock t-shirt, shooting a rock music video, a rock photo-shoot,rock history, and outdoor time – and this program culminates in a performance for family/friends! The Songwriting/Recording Programs record the finished products at one of NYC’s best pro-studios, Spin Studios, where legends in all forms of music have recorded! We have had so much success with this program over the years, making seriously creative, pro recordings that students have used as real band demos, cd’s, and on resumes that have helped students get into Middle School, High School and College!

WHY SHOULD YOU BE A PART OF OUR SUMMER PROGRAMS?
THE PROOF IS IN A SAMPLE OF RECORDINGS MADE!

AGE & AGE & REQUIREMENTS
We accept basic beginner ages, but mostly it is about the student’s interest in being creative, making music, and art. There is no requirement for the student to have played a musical instrument before (if they have it will just be a plus); But we have methods for getting all students playing the basics of the various instruments (guitars, drums, keyboards, vocals).

MISSION
* Creative Songwriting *
* Multi-track Recording *
* Shoot A Music Video *
* Rock Photo Shoot *
* Silk Screen Your Band’s T-Shirt *
* Rock Lighting Lesson *
* Rock History *
* Outside Time
* PERFORMANCE! …AND MORE!!! *

The program consists of teaching the basic fundamentals of working musically in a group together, first in rhythm and melody, and then working towards the goal of making music together as an ensemble, where each student plays a different instrument/role. Another important aspect of the program is to work on growing each individual student’s creativity. To achieve this, the students form a “band” (complete with name/logo), writing their own simple songs and recording them on our equipment; allowing them to experience the creative process and be able to actually take home and listen to their creations. To add to the flow of the day, there is also plenty of outside time at the many local parks. The program culminates in a mini-performance by the students for friends and family at the end of the session.

This 2-week (weekdays 10am-4pm) intensive program, run by Tomato (with special help from professional musicians/industry folk), focuses on song writing, crafting, arrangement, and production. The program culminates in a high quality demo recording in one of NYC’s top studios, Spin Studios; a world-famous studio where many top acts (from rock to metal to jazz to pop) have recorded… and students will be recording on Dr Dre’s board from the 90′s, so you know the sound will be amazing!

The first part of the program is comprised of workshops on song-writing, song-crafting, and pre-production at THOR. Then, participants move to Spin Studios, where they will be working with the studio’s main engineer, on multi-tracking a demo recording and learning about what it takes to produce a professional recording in a pro studio, as well as engineering and mixing. Each participant leaves the program with a high-quality pro-demo. If you already have a band, great! But it is not required that you already have a band put together for the program, we will match you up with like-minded players who are at your level.

If you already have a band, great! But it is not required that you already have a band put together for the program. You can either start thinking of people you would like to team up with for the program ahead of time, or we will match you up with like-minded players who are at your level.
