AGE & REQUIREMENTS
We will accept basic beginner ages, but mostly it is about the student’s interest in being creative, making music, and art. There is no requirement for the student to have played a musical instrument before (if they have it will just be a plus); But we have methods for getting all students playing the basics of the various instruments (guitars, drums, keyboards, vocals).

MISSION
The program will consist of teaching the basic fundamentals of working musically in a group together, first in rhythm and melody, and then working towards the goal of making music together as an ensemble, where each student plays a different instrument/role. Another important aspect of the program is to work on growing each individual student’s creativity. To achieve this, the students will be writing their own simple songs and recording them on our equipment, allowing them to experience the creative process and be able to actually take home and listen to their creations. In addition, the students will create other forms of art with rock t-shirt creation, band logo/poster creation, performance, and even dance. To add to the flow of the day, there will also be plenty of outside time at the many local parks, movie time, and outdoor music listening and history lessons. The program will culminate in a mini-performance by the students for friends and family at the end of the session.

STAFF
The program will be taught by our awesome staff of professional musicians, who all currently work in the recording and touring world, and share their knowledge and experience. This includes musicians Stephanie Sanders, Joan Chew, and Chris “Tomato” Harfenist, who have successfully put on these types of programs in the past; as well as teachers like Ryan Thornton, who, in addition to being a working musician, teaches 2nd Grade at The Brooklyn Friends School.
