These “ALL-THOR” showcases are always the highlights of the year… where we get to see all of the THOR programs on one stage, with each talented individual showcasing where they are currently at creatively. It’s also where we actually see creative personalities grow, as well as musically and in performance; and the time where everyone can see the hard work these young people have been putting in at THOR each week.

We are very excited to get this out to you nice and early this year! As with last year, we are offering two awesome programs based on songcrafting and recording… “THOR Band Fundamentals: Intro to songwriting, recording and performing” and the “Advanced Demo Recording Program”. This year both programs will culminate with recordings at the world renown Spin Studios, where bands from Bloc Party to Lamb Of God have recorded… and is also the home to Dr. Dre’s mixing board from the early 90′s, so you know that there is going to be good sound happening.

We are so excited to be shooting our first episode this Friday, for the THOR/Louder Education web-series that will be running on Metal Injection this Spring! We have been working on this idea since last April, and we are now ready to get it going. Hosted by Alex Skolnick (Testament and Alex Skolnick Trio) and myself, we will all be interviewing (Metal THOR members included), and members will be performing, with each episode’s guest. Each episode will also include a feature on a selected Metal THOR member, to be shot on a different day.

We are proud to announce that the one and only Richard Christy (Death, Iced Earth, Howard Stern Show) will be coming in to hang, talk, and drum with Metal THOR on Death’s “Crystal Mountain”, as our first guest. We have been performing his songs for over a year and now we will be able to pick his brain and talk to him about his life in metal, his love for metal, and anything else we want to discuss with him. Richard is one of metal’s greatest drummers, biggest fans, and one of Howard Stern’s funniest sidekicks!

Our pals at Guitar Center/GC Pro have created a new card just for THOR members! Not only will this card give you 10% off at the Union Square Guitar center location, it will give you access to a rep from the GC Pro team, so you can have all your instrument needs met and questions answered.

We will be rolling these cards out to the THOR programs starting this week, with the contact info for our Guitar Center rep, so save your holiday instrument and gear purchases. We have been trying to work out a good deal with them since the early days of THOR, so we are very excited about this one!
