With a choice of music ranging from Classic Rock, Metal, Funk, Indy, New Wave and anything else that falls between, the students create a “set” of music to be performed on an on-going basis in popular NY venues. This is not a semester-based program but rather a constantly developing and evolving piece of work. The kids are encouraged to continue to add to the set and evolve as musicians, both as individuals and as a group, performing both cover versions and their own compositions. These programs require a skill level of intermediate-advanced and in the 14-17 age group with exceptions for younger highly advanced students.

THOR House Band (formerly Jr. House Band)
Thursday 5pm-7pm
The session divides into two halves: in the first hour we explore diverse styles of music, and in the second hour the band experiments with original song writing and recording. Through multi-track recording, they get to hear their own works in progress in the form of mp3s for their iPods. The aim is to develop an ever evolving repertoire of work to be performed on an ongoing basis at well known rock venues and events. As the kids learn and grow the expectation is that they will move on to the other programs. The House Band is for younger students at a higher-level beginner to intermediate level of experience.

Songcrafting/Demo Recording Workshop

With a background in songwriting for major publishers, TV, film, and video games, and major label recording with hit making/Grammy award winning producers, Tomato is well positioned to lead this workshop. This program focuses on the real world applications of song writing and multi-track recording. The group is split into separate experimental “bands” who work collaboratively writing and recording original music. The objective is to perform the original works at venues in NYC.

THOR Band Coach Program

Tomato is available to work with individual bands (3-6 members), nurturing the band and setting realistic goals. The focus is on building a repertoire of songs, recording multi-track demos and honing performance skills to create a professional quality band. Through ongoing rehearsals and performances the band will develop a unique personality and Tomato will mentor the members individually and as a group, ensuring every musician maximizes his or her potential.
